CUSTOMER SERVICE & FAQ

Basic FAQ

Do you offer custom framing services?

Yes, in most cases we can custom frame your unframed print purchase.  We offer
a select number of frame mouldings and matboards which we order in bulk
quantity so that we are able to keep our framing prices very low.  Our frame and mat choices are always changing so what is shown under the Catalog tab as "Framing" may not be totally up to date.  Just like any
interior design product, wall decor framing options are always fluctuating.  We can usually ship a textured framed print almost anywhere.  However, if your preference is to frame with mats and glass, we limit the print size to those that we feel we can safely ship without damage.  Very large prints are vulnerable to breakage by the shipping
carrier, no matter how well we package the product or which carrier we
use.  If you see a framed print on our website that you like, but you prefer a different frame and/or mat choice, we can try to accommodate your
request.  Please just call Customer Service (651-253-4651) in advance
PRIOR to making the actual purchase to discuss options.

What is the difference between a poster, an open edition print, and a limited edition print?

A poster is a reproduction of the original piece of art, typically printed on lower quality paper so it can be cheaply reproduced in mass quantity, thus selling for less than other mediums. An open edition print is usually printed on paper similar in quality to the signed and numbered limited edition. Because the paper is of higher quality than a poster, it sells for a price between that of the poster and the limited edition. It may or may not have an original signature, but will not have a number or edition size. A limited edition print is a high quality reproduction of the original piece of art, with an original artist signature contained somewhere in the print. It can be within the image or on the margin of the print. Each artist decides where they wish to sign. (Do not mistake the signature reproduction within the image for the original signature.) A limited edition will also contain a number and edition size, and/or a designation such as Artist's Proof. Some artists like Terry Redlin or Jim Hansel usually have a 10% Artist's Proof run, meaning if the edition size is 950, the Artist's Proof or A/P run is 95 pieces. Other artists like Les Kouba do/did not number their Artist's Proofs. A signed/numbered limited edition will sell for more than an open edition, and an Artist's Proof will typically sell for more than a signed/numbered print because there are fewer for collectors to acquire.

What if I want a print that does not show on your website?

Please give us a call, and we will do our best to help you find exactly what you are looking for. We have many prints in stock that are not listed on the website. We also have access to other sources in the secondary market that can help us locate prints that are sold out at the publisher.

Where can I find your return policy?

Our return policy is available at the bottom of our website under the "Returns & Exchanges" section. You can also find it in the order confirmation email.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, we offer gift certificates in any denomination over $25.00. This is most easily handled with a phone call to our Customer Service desk.

How do I determine size if I want to buy my own pre made frame?

We get asked this question a lot. Our first advice is to talk to us first. Since the same image might come in more than one size, we want to ensure that you get the exact measurements that you need when buying a premade frame. Each print usually has two measurements--the image size which is just the picture part of the print, and the paper size which is the outside dimensions including the margins.

Do your images come in different sizes?

Most, but not all images come in different sizes. As a general rule, the artist and their publishers do not reproduce varying sizes until the limited edition run is sold out at the publisher. Then open edition prints will be published, often in different sizes. For example, look on the website for the artist Jon McNaughton's popular print titled Crossing the Swamp. It comes in three different sizes. Just use the drop down to choose the size and price that meets your needs.

Can I place an order by phone?

Yes, we are always happy to take your order by phone. Call Customer Service at 651-253-4651 to place that order. We will need shipping information and a credit card right at that time. We will also require an e-mail address if you want a receipt or tracking information. We are also happy to include a note or personal message within the package if you are sending it as a gift.
